Well i havn't played with any builds since WWDC so if i repeat something that was in 7b44 i'm sorry. Well I only played with it for a minute or two cause I wanna save some suprises for the final in sept. (I hope) anyway my 1st notice was NEW SHEETS ANIMATION! insteadof sliding down, they like fold out and down now, its really kool! speed is really nice. I was running it off my 5200 external FW drive and it ran faster than my 7200 internal! also I noticed some new icons, one for system prefs, the apple is now brushed metal, and a new calculator icon. It seemed alot more stable also. Still no updated progress bars or scrollers man i want this os to go gold!

Surprise, it won't be out next month unless they want another 10.0 fiasco on their hands.

Yeah, I kind of wonder why people think it's going to be released in September.

Probably because they saw what a huge difference there was between the WWDC preview build and the first seed. Now everyone is expecting that kind of improvement every time a new build is seeded. Of course, the WWDC build was probably 3-4 weeks old by the time everyone got it (lead time to duplicate CDs, some amount of QA, etc.)

Then, everyone voiced their opinion that it was coming soon, due to the rapid pace of improvements. The story gets spread here and there, and reinforces the belief through repetition.

I am expecting to hear a ship date for it in September, though.

I don't know what causes yours not to stick in Jag.

Finder prefs stick here.

You can finally activate the Screen Saver with hot corners. You've been able to set it since 7B21, I think. I've been waiting for this one, as trivial as it is. Now I can take the Keychain menu extra out of my menu bar...

Just cdouble clicked on my HD icon on the Desktop. Yet again I'm back to fricking icon view. It's happening sporadically. Also, connecting to my Airport. I've chosen save password to keychain a billion times yet once or twice a day it asks me for the damn password again. I'm no newbie either. OSX still has problems saving little settings.

Another example, plug in my JBL speakers and the sound isn't balanced. Go to the Sounds pref panel and the thing is off balance. I fix it but later when I stick the audio jack back in (this is a laptop so I obviously move around) the audio isn't balanced again.

How many updates does it take to fix such simple problems?

Am I missing something? This is perfectly doable in Jaguar, it's right there in the Screensaver prefs

Yea, in the early builds of Panther, you weren't able to select a corner to activate the screensaver.

We are a lot closer to a final release than 10.0. If they get the network stuff finalized they should have something by Nov/Dec. But the Network stuff has to get fixed. If they ship 10.3 with just Network connectivity to other mac machines - well it would be a real shame!
Yes, I know I could buy a PC, but why?

Close the window, delete the .DS_Store file using the Terminal, open the window, set you view prefs, close window.

Does that help stick them? Also, check if there's the "no-write" icon in the upper-left corner of the window, that would indicate that your changes might not be getting written to the .DS_Store file. HTH.

also make a new user account with admin rights, call it 'test' with pw 'test' for instance

login to that user, do the prefs stick there?
If so the problem is in your homefolder...
some kind of conflict in the pref folder maybe.
If it ain't broken... Fix it!©
