So I have this Dual 1 Gig Quicksilver, 1.5 G RAM. (Used it for over a year in OS 9).
I totally erased the hard drive and installed a clean OS 10.2 on it. Then upgraded with the combo image and all the other stuff. (safari, itunes etc).
I up to now have done a firmware reset, fixed permissions, ran disk first aid, ran disk warrior 3.0 and my problem is still there.
Nothing will be written to my home folder it seems. At least, nothing is written to ~/library/Application support (no folders in there). I use Launchbar and it keeps telling me that it can't write there.
Safari also quits each time I start writing something in a form.
Address Book wn'ot Launch, Ichat won't Launch... Mail won't launch..
Can anyone help ?
I searched on macfixit forums but haven't found this problem.

Have you verified in Get Info that you have read/write access to that folder?

Good question. I would point the blame towards some 3rd party installer or something you used that asked for authentication. But really, it's hard to know for sure why it would happen.

That sucks but I guess its how we learn. If this should happen again but the permissions are set correctly, try and trash the preferences and everything associated with that particular application. Thats what I do when apps start to unexpectedly quit on me.
