Wasn't sure where to post this. Excuse me if this was discussed already or elsewhere.

I know that the Mac OS is not affected by the recent Sobig and Blaster and Lovesans worms, right? Only Windoze 2000/XP, etc.

My ISP just warned me I was notified recently about the worms and that I should go to the MS site to download patches to fix this problem and that I didn't do it, and that my computer, a Macintosh G4 and a Powerbook on OS X was still sending out the worm. And they threatened to suspend service if I don't fix it!

I figure this was just a generic warning that they send to everyone. But it makes me wonder, if there is still something happening? I am getting e-mails, a few a day from people affected by the worm with notifications that i sent them the virus and that it was disabled. I didn't do it! I don't know these people. Obviously someone with my e-mail address in their addressbook was affected and sent it out.

Intolerable situation. Microsoft should close their open doors in that OS.

Thanks!

Nope - neither do a thing to a Mac. There are no known Mac OS X viruses..ignore the generic e-mail.

Viruses will spoof your email address. It's obnoxious but just try to explain to anyone who accuses you with a non-bulk warning.

While these viruses target MS machines, they can still affect you. I'm getting between 50 and 100 spam emails daily from people who have MS machines infected with SoBig and have my email address in their address books.
