I've done a search on MacNN and can't seem to find anything useful on this topic.

I have many files that I backup with disk images that have been created in X. When I pull the images back, some of them mount, but most of them say: Unable to verify "backup1.img".

This seems to happen with various other img files I've gotten from the net. Is there any way to repair these files or force them to mount?

If it's unable to verify the image, the image is usually corrupt and unusable.

You will have to redownload that 600MB Panther image.
