Standard Edition
================
Wordprocessor App: Document or Manuscript
Presentations App: Keynote
Database App: (current Filemaker, may be MySQL w/GUI frontend)
Spreadsheet: Spreadsheet
Develoment App: FM Developer
Brainstorming/Idea App: Concept or Manifest
Server: Filemaker Server

Corporate Edition
=================
Standard + ...

Meetings App: Meetings
Recruitment App: Recruiter
Report Generation App: Reports - Apples next purchase
Stock Market: Portfolio
Server App: WebObjects (+ Filemaker Server tech)

If the reports of these two new apps is true, then it looks like Apple may be entering the Business Intelligence/ERP market albeit in a very indirect way and gradual way - which is a good move coz if it was obvious, the giants in those markets (SAP, ORACLE, IBM, etc.) and the little leaguers (MS, Inuit, etc.) would not port the apps/platforms to mac because of the FinalCutPro phenomena. Thus the purchase of Crystal would be very strategic concidering that their technology is not used just for business reports but for development as well (part of .Net & some Java Application Development Suites).

Well It's Official that FileMaker released two filemaker Applications, Meetings and Recruiter. But where do you get the Word Processor and Spreadsheet Apps to complete the line up?
Nothing to see, move along.

They are just FileMaker based apps that anyone can make, and the purpose of those apps is:

"The new applications initiative will attract new users to FileMaker, growing the market of potential clients for independent developers who create custom, professional solutions based on FileMaker."

I was really excited until I actually saw the two applications. They look VERY specific and also REQUIRE File Maker Pro 6...

Who is going to buy that?

Well, when the topic said "Filemaker Office," what did you expect? Of course they want to extend Filemaker's market share.

Filemaker is hampered by the Application-within-an-application feel. All these database apps has no connection with the Mac OS X UI at all. You might as well run OpenOffice in X11...

Don't get me wrong though. Filemaker is a GREAT database tool...
