I've been having some weird problems with OS X. Safari always gives me a couple error dialogues when I start up, and now Mozilla quits at the moment it tries to render its first window. I've tried a lot of things, esp for the mozilla problem, but nothing seems to work. However, all the other users on my machine can use these apps without a hitch.

I'm thinking about backing up my Library directory and then deleting it - essentially I want to start with a clean user and then put all the important stuff back in - documents, preferences, address book, etc. I'd appreciate any pointers from people who have tried this, or suggestions of alternate solutions.

Your theory is a good one.

Just rename the ~/Library folder then log out and log back in. A new library folder will be created automatically.

Then if you wish, you can easily drag bits and pieces you want from the old libray to the new one. If moving one item causes the problems to return, then you know which item is the bad one.

Thanks for the advice, Brass, that worked fine and was much easier than I imagined. I suppose I had a few corrupted files in my library or something.
