I like using the "calibrate" tool in the display section of the system preferences.

My only question, is that after you click your new name, and click create, a little message comes up and says, creating a color sync profile.

Here's the question. I don't think I use color sync. Really in PHotoshop, when I print I turn off all color settings. So this is hard to ask, but is my calibration I've been making with this tool for several years... not relevant if you are not printing with Colorsync?.
