..how do I?

I've accidentally moved (overshot my intended destination by a pixel or two) some files to a folder called "Desktop" on a mounted Firewire Drive which appeared briefly but has now disappeared and won't reappear.

I can't locate it using the terminal, ls -ltr won't show a "Desktop" folder, and "PathFinder" won't show it either.

The info is on the drive somewhere, I just can't get at it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
kent

You shoulda hit Undo after doing that since peopel constantly overlook the fact that in OS X undo actually works in finder. It's near unlimited too. Except for actions that can't be undone, likde emptying the trash.

Since your looking for it now, it should have been at the root of the Hard Drive sicne you don't see it, try using a find /Volumes/Mounted_HD -name "Desktop" and see how that work for you.

You can also use the Finder's Find command. Be sure to add the option to find invisible files.

Also, if know the name of one of the file in the folder, you can search for it. Because once you find a file, you have the hierarchy above it too.
