I wanted to create an OS 9.1 partition so I could evaluate the performance of my Umax scanner with the old VistaScan software to VueScan running on 10.2.6. VistaScan will not run in Classic. My FP iMac will not boot off the 9.1 CD and attempts to install from Classic have been unsuccessful. The software is loaded but apparently not set up to boot.

When did you buy your FP iMac? If it is a 2003 model, it can't boot OS 9. If it is older, then you should be able to select the Classic system to boot from in the Startup Disk pref pane.

Also, I believe OS 9.2.x is the minimum supported version of OS 9 on the first FP iMacs.

A copy of the latest version of OS 9 should be on one of your Software Restore CDs. Do a search to find out exactly how to get it out (it requires some use of the Terminal).

Everything said above is correct. Your FP iMac will not run 9.1.
