I don't know if this post will be locked or whatnot considering it is about Panther Server, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about if this one feature would be included in Server v.10.3.

I have a Mac OS X-based network of 10 machines that interact with an XServe running Jaguar Server. I was wondering if Panther Server would include a VPN-like feature that would allow it to "tunnel out" of its dyanmic DSL IP address(es) so that I can use Apple Remote Desktop with it and the client machines from a high-speed connection off-site.

I remember reading that Panther Server will include some type of VPN support that would make the independent Cisco or Novell VPN boxes irrelevant.

I hope that I explained that well enough. Does anyone know if I will be able to do this?

Just found on Apple's Panther Server preview page:

VPN server — Provides individual computers with secure remote access to your Local Area Network (LAN). VPN technology lets IP traffic travel securely over a public TCP/IP network using “tunneling” to encrypt data between the client system and host network. Apple’s VPN server implements L2TP and PPTP standards to support Mac, Windows and Linux clients and offers strong authentication using IPSec, MS-CHAP or third-party solutions such as SecureID.

Can Apple Remote Desktop work through that type of network scheme?

You can most likely do what you are suggesting using Kame and Racoon. I've done it in the past using Linux and *BSD. The tools I mention are built into OS X 10.2.6 at least from what I can see and you should be able to use tunnel-mode to a Mac server to connect to your remote network. Kame . Lots of info there, and is the same stack that Mac OS X and several stand-alone devices use for IPSec.
