I'm dying to see the new effect for sheets. I've heard they roll down instead of just sliding. Can someone take some screenshots or capture a movie or point me to already existing ones so I can see this?

Also, can anyone comment on whether they think 7b59 is close enough to done that Apple could release Panther on 3 October? The last build I've seen was whichever one came right after the WWDC build.

Thanks.

Some people say that the first build is stable enough for day to day use. Some people say 10.3 is much much faster.

Some people say the builds are way too buggy. Some people say 10.3 is not much faster then 10.2.

In other words, don't ask.

does it work in every application or is it hit and miss... like with Jaguar...

Also, is it fast... as of late... I've started to notice that Jag is slowing down (could be a fewo ther things though)

Have you played with a build of Panther yet? If so, that's why you think Jaguar is slowing down...

as of 7b49, the finder misses it for example. donīt know about later builds though.

Really doesn't do it justice.
That is downright silly! The sliding makes perfect sense. Flopping down and up? That's even worse than sheets on metal windows.

Looks like something Stardock would do on Windows to sell to PC trolls envious of Mac's style.

One nice thing about these sheets is a little slit forms in the window and the sheet comes out of it. This new effect connects the sheet to the window more than in the past. Strange thing is that the finder doesn't get this since its UI is mostly some strange hack.

EDIT: Heres an image of the slit from the *53 build thread.

and how its not in the finder (might be fixed in newer builds)
