I am having a small problem with capture the desktop picture (SHIFT+command+3) and the picture comes out in PDF file and wont be able to open in Adobe Photosop 7.0? The Adobe Photoshop says it couln't read the file? I was soo confused why it had happened..

Any idea why?

Open the PDF file in Preview and choose File -> Export and export as Photoshop PSD file format (or jpg, gif, etc).

Photoshop should be able to open it. Something's probably wrong with your photoshop installation

as far as I know there is no way to change it so that screen shots are always jpegs you have to export each one manually (or find some freeware app to do it for you), and as said above photoshop should open the files without any problems

EVEN EASIER...

Take your screen shot, but...

Hold down the OPTION key as you acquire it. (It puts the picture on the clipboard.)

Open Photoshop, and select FILE>NEW and you will see that the new file it is going to create is the exact size of your captured picture!

Just COMMAND-V to paste...and VOILA!

Check out the AWESOME thread on this board at:

This is one of the best discussions I have seen on this website. It has this tip, and many more!

Does anyone know WHY they used PDF for saving graphics? It seems kind of pointless. PDF isn't suitable for any type of graphical use... Anyways, I could've sworn there was a Terminal command that changed the default format...

Except that it's CTRL, not option.

Agreed. PNG would be a much better suited format.
