Mail.app continue to fail to fetch from comcast.net. and stalls when displaying the status message of "Preparing to retrieve messages…"

Console reports the message
"[POP3Connection fetchMessages:] failed: Reading data from host mail.comcast.net failed."

My account preferences in mail.app are OK.

Gyaz mail has no problem connecting.

Any ideas on correcting this problem.
