It's an "e-mail" file as exported by Outlook Express on a PC. It's a stupid way of doing it. Just open it in a text editor and you'll see the message including all its headers.

It's a stupid way of sending it, because it does not follow the standard that every other email client in the world uses - but then Microsoft following standards would be like an assassin asking his mark if he wanted to be killed.

"Just code"? There should be headers and content. Of course, if it's a multipart MIME with an attachment, you might have fun trying to decode that. And it's a stupid way of sending it because it's nonstandard, and as you just discovered it makes life difficult for people not using Outlook.

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.
