Is there any reason I need to keep the files in
/sw/src? Does fink need them to keep track of
whats installed?

Periodically, I delete those file. You don't really need them after the installation.

They can be a bit of a time-saver if you have to re-install.

if you have installed once, and if you ONLY mess up the binary, then you don't need the source to re-install, me thinks
