The Internet preferences pane is now gone, and the only way I could figure out how to change my default browser from Safari to Omniweb was to use the third-party "more Internet" preference pane. Surely there must be a way to do it without third party additions?

Really - They've taken the Internet Prefpane out completely?

Weird.

[edit] - I forgot to answer your Q!

There is a preferred Browser option in the Safari "General" Preferences.

Like he said. Safari is default (finally!!) so if you want to use an inferior IE or alternative browser, you must look Safari in the face and change your prefs in Safari's prefs.

I belive Apples position on this is that if you have an internet app you should provide that preference in your app.

Seems to make sense to me that less knowlegable users might think to go to the app first to set the it as the default.

I like it having one centralized point to control this. I hate it when apps beg for being the default at startup.
