I'm a little dissapointed by Mac os X. It really doesn't seem that steady to me. Applications quit unexpectedly all the time. All it saves me is a reboot. I have an out the box iMac 17" 1gig/1Gig ram. I've had to wipe the HD and reinstall 8 times so far in 2 weeks!! FCP and Office installations cause corruptions I can't fathom and as for Apple site demos, well I dare not even attempt them. Apple supoort by phone is excellent, however (glad I bought the 3 year extention).

I have ordered Norton Systemworks 3.0, Disk Warrior & Tech tools. I'm going to make them ALL sort the damn system out and then I'd like to make an installation disc on a DVD of my whole hard drive.

How do I do it please, Should I use Vise or the Aladdin one or any other?

Seems you probably have a hardware issue. My 17" iMac (800 MHz, 512 MB) runs like a champ. Office works fine, as does FCP. Wiping the HD and reinstalling 8 times in 2 weeks seems overkill. Don't use Norton 3.0, people report (do a search) that it causes more harm than good.

Yeah, seriously, if you bought AppleCare, send the machine in to Apple or take it to an Apple store. Something is seriously wrong with your HD or something.

I would say it might be a hardware problem also, that or you don't know what is really causeing the problem.

Reformating 8 times in 2 weeks is overkill, and kinda silly...
