Is this combination possible? My business partner was forced to switch to the Yahoo "upgrade" and can't receive mail - she can send though.
Needless to say SBC isn't helpful on the Cust.Serv. side when it comes to Macs.

If anyone can help, we need settings for:
OSX Mail app. + SBC Yahoo. Or any suggestions on other mail apps that will work with the combo.

Thanks.

Um, I used this at home with Entourage and it worked flawlessly.

I use mail.sbcglobal.net for my incoming and outgoing mail servers.

That's what she used before, but they switched to the Yahoo thing and now that she's using OSX, incoming settings wont work.
pop.swbell.yahoo.com

sounds like you have it right:

Type = POP3

incoming= pop.swbell.yahoo.com
outgoing= smtp.swbell.yahoo.com

username= (full email address.. check to see if it should end with ".com" or ".net")

make sure that on the outgoing "advanced" option choose "Authentication = username/password"

I'm not at the Mac now so I cannot look at the wording and such for all the fields, but I will correct this when I get home to my computer tonight.

Does the Yahoo upgrade now work with Mac (esp. OSX)? I thought it wasn't yet Mac-friendly. A friend has been having mail difficulties with Ameritech and was told the server is being used less and less and the company is trying to move everyone over to Yahoo.

Works fine for me. I had to use OS 9 to create my user account with the user account creation tool that was on CD. After that it works fine with PPPoe in OS X. Just boot into 9 run the included install cd and go through the walkthrough process to create the user account. Your supposed to be able to do it through the web but that doesn't work. You have to do it in the OS 9 for some reason.

After that you'll never need it again

If you have any questions about it further or need help just let me know. It was pretty easy for me to get going on OS X, and I'm in the Los Angeles area.
