We have a beige g3 with a newertech 500 g3 upgrade card and orangemicro firewire card. the ipod worked normally in OSX 10.2.4, but not in OSX 10.2.5, when copying files to the ipod or dragging mp3 in itunes, the finder would freeze and the rainbow icon kept spinning. We downgraded back to 10.2.4 afterward.
Our company had just purchased the new Extensis Suitcase XI, it requires 10.2.6. We have no choice but upgrading the system to 10.2.6 using the combo updater, again, when copying files to ipod, the finder would freeze.
Since the firewire card doesn't require any driver, i have no idea why the ipod doesn't work in OSX 10.2.5 and up, i have fixed the permission using disk utility by the way. Does anyone know what if any firewire kernel has been changed in 10.2.5 and 10.2.6?
