Apologies in advance if this question has been asked before, but I had a search and coudn't find anything exactly like it.

My ibook 600 was working happily with 10.2.6 for ages, but now when I open it up to wake it from sleep, what happens about 25% of the time is it wakes up no problem as before, but then after about 2 seconds the screen goes black and it appears to go back to sleep again. Holding down a key (for a good few seconds) will wake it up again and this time it's OK.

Don't know if it's a contributing factor, but the ibook tends to live in the living room on a shelf when it's not being used, plugged in to the power adaptor. Whenever I pick it up to use it, usually when sitting on the sofa, I usually unplug the power lead first to avoid dangling wires, just before I open it. No peripherals attached.

Any ideas? Is it a permissions thing?

Thanks!
