I want to install 10.2 on my rev. 2 iMac. Everything starts OK (hardware req's met), but it turns out that the cd-rom has problems reading discs past a certain point. Thus the install process hangs when the installer tries to read all the packages off the install disc.

So are there any workarounds? The iMac has USB, networking capability, a good 9.2 install, no firewire, and apparently no cd-rom. I also have a G4 running 10.2, if that can help things out. Ideas??

Disassemble the case, remove the HD and stick it in the G4. Install and then put it back. You can read up on how to take an iMac HD out at XLR8yourmac. Putting it in the G4 is trivial, just make sure it's jumper settings are on slave or CS in the G4 and CS or Master when you put it back. It would be a shame to have to take it all apart again to reset a jumper.
