Connecting using GO/CONNECT to a remote non-mac system using afp://, I get this error:

Connection Failed
This server is running on your machine. Please access the volumes and files locally.

1. Anyone had this problem?
2. What does this error mean? Any idea how I can begin to fix this?

I feel funny asking and answering my own question, but I seem to be the only person here who has tried this.

It seems that netatalk was not sending the machine name, because I was able to connect with the IP address. Samba, the windows version of file sharing software, has its own name resolution. Maybe the answer is with the configuration files.

Why I should get that weird error about when accessing a machine that is my (sic) machine, access the local directory, is still unknown.
