How do I set the default unstuffing software!? (beginner's Q)

I did something terribly wrong and all the files I download are "opened" by wrong software, which in this case is Max/MSP, which doesn't do anything, obviously. I can't figure out how to set Stuffit as the default installation software on OSX.  I couldn't find any info on Help menu & my brain is too fried to venture out to Apple support forums...  I'm sorry to ask such an elementary question, but I would really appreciate it if someone can get me out of this mess. Thank you!!

1.) Get Info...
2.) Open With...
(select Stuffit)
3.) Change all....

Thanx for the reply. Very kind of you. I'm on Japanese OSX, so I'm going to have to look around for where 'Get info...' is, but I should have no problem finding it. I really appreciate your help. Thank you!!

"Get Info"は日本語で「情報を見る」として訳されています。ファイルをハイライトした後、Finderのフ ァイルメニューから「情報を見る」を選びます。
もうひとつの方法はctrlボタン（JISキーボードではえんぴつボタンかな？）を押しながらファイルをク リックして、そこに現れるメニューから「情報を見る」を選びます。

I use Firebird to post in Japanese because Safari always fubars it. Try Mozilla or a Mozilla derivative.
