How do you disable rendez-vous ?

Hi,

My machine name is "perso", I would like to diseable the perso.local reverse lookup being done by os X ? anyone knows how ?

I belive it's done with the 'Directory Access' app in /Applications/Utilities. Just clear the checkbox and it should disable it (I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong here).

You would have to edit the Rendouzvous StartupItem:
/System/Library/StartupItems/mDNSResponder
Simply put exit 1 after the shebang line (#!/bin/sh).

Ignore him, follow the instructions prior. Go to Applications/Utilities/Directory\ Access.app and merely uncheck Rendezvous.

You don't need to mess with and possibly break a VERY important system file in order to turn off Rendezvous.
