found a bug in 10.2.8, have updated it via software update. I have usb2 external hdd, which mounts ok, but on desktop or anywhere in finder if I right click on the icon, it restarts finder every time. If I want to find info about size, I left click once and press apple-I....
also haven't noticed any speed increase in usb... it still feels like usb 1.1 to me...
weird but its there... 10.2.9?

In regard to USB 2.0 speed. The ports insie the computer need to be USB 2.0 ports otherwise you will not get the speed increase.

afriad not... USB 2 is a hardware thing. If your computer doesn't have that capability out of the box, it can't get it through other means. The update in 10.2.8 is simply an update to OS X that makes it more compatible with USB 2.0 devices

I think the 17 powerbook has USB2, at least Apple thinks it does on their site.

That's the new 1.3Ghz one. - The original 17" (1GHz has normal USB)
