I upgraded to 10.2.8 and when I tried to make my dock transparent using transparentdock - it vanished. I have tried a few things I gleaned from this and other boards - no luck. I would welcome ideas. But even if you think i need to, don't write and say reinstall OSX. I would rather buy a Centurion than reinstall.

Thanks.

Why is reinstalling so bad? It's not like you'd have to delete your files just to install. Just chose upgrade, should take 20 minutes.

Otherwise, maybe get the dock files from someone and replace your old ones with them.

I had the same problem. I was able to get my dock functioning again by using the "Reset Dock" functionality in Transparent Dock. Of course, you have to have previously done a dock backup in order for this to do you any good. I was able to restore the pre-10.2.8 dock and it appears to work so far. However, I will likely reinstall 10.2.8 to get everything back to the way it's supposed to be.

Just use ClearDock 1.2.4 from Unsanity....in this case, it's a great app that doesn't actually touch any Dock.app files (unlike TransparentDock)...and we've seen what happens when actual files are touched and customized....

Thank you for all the help. I will switch to Cleardock.

I fixed it by downloading and reinstalling 10.2.8 using the image not Software Update pref. During optimization the dock popped up. I am going to chuck out transparent dock and go with Cleardock or nothing at all. I us OSX pretty much out-of-the-box which I think is the way to go. The one thing I customized, the dock to get rid of that ugly white field, causes problems.....

go and figure

I had the same problem with TransparentDock, however when I went into the Dock pref pane in System preferences my dock popped right back up.

Regardless, the TransparentDock settings did not work with 10.2.8, so I got this ClearDock to see what it is like (with the APE system).

It works.
