Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to set up a network at home with a mac running OS X, and a PC running XP home edition. My question is, how do I create one of the machines to be a DHCP server, that gives out IP addresses, if I'm understanding this correctly.

All help appreciated.

You need Mac OS X Server to get the DHCP server functionality.

Truthfully, I would get a $50 Linksys router and use the DHCP server on it, instead of setting it up on the OS X or Winbloze box. Lots easier to maintain.

Cheers CatOne, I'm about to put together a new network config here, and adding some more computers, so I'll probably do what you said.

Thanks again.
