How to resize my hd partition to install Yellow Dog Linux?

With Knoppix you can boot off the CD and resize the partition on your PC hard drive so you can install Linux. I want to do the same thing or something very similar so that I don’t have to reformat my hard drive to install YDL.

How would I go about doing this, or is this even possible?
