Lag Whenever An App Uses Spell Check?

Hey I've noticed whenever I use spell check for the first time since opening iChat, or Safari or Text edit I get the spinning beach ball for like thirty seconds on my brand new iBook... anyone got a clue what's up with this problem?

Perhaps fix_prebinding slows down the computer for some reason. Try to open a terminal with "top" and look if it shows what's eating the CPU time when you start the spelling check.

Yep, I have the same problem, Spell checking Using apples own is slow and laggy, so i use word, i always keep it open. Latest update of word is great!!!

Hey in disk utility if you repair the permissions it fixes the problem.
