I have a dual boot (OS 9/OS X) Dual-500
Gigabit Ethernet G4 machine.
I regularly go back and forth (usually to
play Unreal Tournament on OS 9). Since
the OS X 10.2.8 update, I am getting
pretty consistent hangs when attempting
to reboot from OS 9 to OS X. Norton Disk
Doctor finds problems with the drives.
Norton Speed Disk won't run to completion
even after successfully running Norton
Disk Doctor.

It looks like the OS X 10.2.8 update does
install some new Open Transport files in
OS 9.

Sounds like you could have disk trouble. Forget about Norton, and go get DiskWarrior. Run it on your drive and see if it helps.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
