Recently I have been experiencing weird issues with my PB 800. When using some programs they quit unexpectedly and I get an error "Safari has quit unexpectedly", Safari being just one of the programs. Anyone seen this? I am a newbie to OS X, how do I troubleshoot this?

I am not sure. Where in System Preferences do I find that setting?

I'm experiencing the same problem. I'm also new to MacOS X, so I have no idea where to find protected memory, I checked all the options in system preferences, maybe I just missed it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is no such thing. I have no idea what he is talking about. The reason for your problems is probably a corrupt preference file. Delete them in your hom/library folder and relaunch.

Another common cause of "unexpected quits" is a corrupted cache file. Try deleting the contents of ~/Library/Caches and /Library/Caches either via the Terminal or with a utility like Cache Out X and then reboot.

Thanks for the replies. I will clear the cache and see if it helps.

I had similar problems with my 17" iMac using Safari and Final Cut Pro and Alice.
Apple solved it for me by renaming my home library folder OldLibrary, Logging out and then logging back in again. The Old library folder is superseded by a new one. Bin the OldLibrary folder DO NOT TRANSFER ANY FILES OUT OF IT into the new one. Spend 1/2 an hour setting your preferences in all your apps. No problems since!
