Greetings, friends. I hope one of you good folk can help me with my problem. I am using 10.2.6 and a 56k modem. When I try to connect, I receive a message indicating an "incorrect PPP option". I checked the Console --- I came upon the Console by accident, when looking through the MacHelp -- and saw that I am missing a ppp.log. So I searched this forum and found a possible solution. The solution, however, did not work for me. I performed the following:

I opened the Terminal application. I typed:

cd /
ls -l

I saw that the proper file was missing. Then I typed:

sudo ln -s/private/tmp/tmp

and then I entered my password. But I received the following message:

ln: illegal option --/
ln [-fhns] file1 file2
ln [-fhns] file . . . directory

And there I am stuck. I am using OS9 right now. The nostalgia is pleasant, but I would surely like to be back in OSX. I would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

You typed

sudo ln -s/private/tmp/tmp

You want

sudo ln -s /private/tmp /tmp

Notice the spaces between -s and /private/tmp and between /private/tmp and /tmp .
