Next to my help menu on the top of the screen is this little icon that shows me the character palette. It was put up there when I looked in, iBlog, at the characters of fonts.. And now, I don't know how to get rid of that menu item. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of it?

Sounds like the keyboard layout. So, I'd check the International keyboard layout section of the system prefs and uncheck the box that says 'put it in the menu bar".

System Preferences->International->Keyboard menu uncheck everything (including the character palette) but the American keyboard layout (or whatever layout you use).

Nasrudin sat on a river bank when someone shouted to him from the opposite side: "Hey! how do I get across?" "You are across!" Nasrudin shouted back.

You can also command-drag it out of the menu bar to get rid of it easily.

Alright! Thanks everyone. But for some reason, instead of keyboard, I have inputmenu.. But it worked! Now, why does that happen now and then even though I didn't go there in the first place to turn it on?

Err... no, you can't! Your thinking of the system menus at the other end of the menu bar. (I'll admit that I was too when I read the topic.)
