Hey everybody, I just got my first mac over the weekend, a 17" iMac 1.25 GHz, and I am loving it so far, except for one rather irritating problem. Three times already I have come back to the computer, and the screensaver was running, but I was unable to get the computer out of it. The screen was not frozen, but nothing I could do with the keyboard or mouse would shut off the screensaver, so I had to shut off and turn back on the computer. I have disabled the screensaver for now, but does anybody have any advice as to what might be causing this? Thanks.

Excellent question. I don't remember right now (I am at work), but it was the one that it defaulted to, with the swirling lines on black background.

I once had a similar (but much worse) problem, I would also check (and then tell us) what all the energy saving options are set to and if any third party apps are installed that may interfere.

The energy settings are set to sleep after an hour, with no earlier time to shut off the monitor, and nothing else has been installed (yet anyways).
