Hello,

Anyone know how to check to see what ports OSX opens and closes as apps are launched? I know a little about "netstat -a" and "ipfw" and some of the rules that are needed to open and close ports.

There's an app that I'm having problems with *cough*fcp*cough*, and would like to see what ports it's accessing. I know there was a big hubbub about MS Office and security risks involved with its implementation of their piracy protection i.e. allowing an intruder to copy the serial information by capturing the broadcasted info, or shutting down legal copies of apps using broadcasted info.

thanks

You want Little Snitch or do it the hard way with tcpdump and ipfw.
