Actually I'm all for "Snow leopard" being the working title for 10.4, whereby they get rid of all the brushed tuna can looking widgets and windows

10.4 actually already has a code name, as it is in very quietly in early development...wish i could print it here (but i would pay dearly)

it's NOT a continuation of the jaguar/panther thing...

one thing i can share: a clear menubar.
one possible thing: voice recognition.

good stuff...

Bullshit! People in that situation are professional enough not to gossip like little girls in school And have enough respect for themselves/their bosses that they wouldn't even tease like that.

Oh yeah?

Well, I'VE got Build 8A1 on my computer RIGHT NOW.

Of course, being the very first build of Mac OS X 10.4, it doesn't do much. Actually, it has a pretty major flaw. It completely erases your computer's boot ROM firmware, to the point that you can't update the firmware.

On PowerBooks it totally kills the battery the instant you turn on the machine and then the battery will never charge again.

On another note, I wonder what would happen once Apple hits build numbers with Z in them and needs another major milestone?

123BB34 anyone? Mac OS XXI version 21.9?

I have a copy of 10.5 and a beautiful screenshot of it. But I'm afraid that the margin on this screen is too small for me to post it here.

The 10.4 series is actually going to be code named "toasterBiscut" and will add home devices to the digital hub concept.

I overheard it from a reliable source...

Do you work for Apple or something? If so, you have already violated your NDA by just stating that. So why not give us more details?

Just because they licensed them, doesn't mean they have to use them. They may have done so, purely to stop others jumping on the bandwagon.

Actually, I wish they'd stop using the codenames as a marketing thing. Tell me honestly, how many times have you said to someone "I'm running OS X Jaguar" without also adding some reference to 10.2? The only time I hear people talking about or using the codenames is on these, or similar, forums. AFAIK, noone actually gives a damn (excluding geeks like us, of course)!

People claiming to know clearly don't. It is named Sabertooth. It was originally going to be called Pussy, but then people pointed out the sexual connotation.

I heard 10.4 will support... get this... everyone ready? good... hold on...

...

The Barney Interactive Playmate. Thats right. in 10.4 Apple will be including drivers BUILT IN to the operating system, allowing users using this wonderful Microsoft device on their PC to safely transition to Macintosh.

Apple is expected to put the switch campaign into high gear after this.

If this is so, Apple stole one of my internal code names Can I sue them for something like that?

They got the feline thing going so why not "House Cat" ...lol I am horrible! Ok but on the serious side I have heard from a reliable source that to avoid more lawsuits from Apple Corps, Apple Computer plans on changing thier name to Orange Computer. The logo will be similar to the apple it will still have a stem but instead of a bite out of the side there will be a section of the orange that is peeled.
