Which update do you think will be released earlier – 10.2.8 Update 2 or Panther?

OS 9/X aside.. Has Apple ever updated an outdated OS?
I'd have thought 10.2.8b will come before Panther.

Yes. Apple has released security updates for 10.1 and Java updates for 10.1 months after the release of Jaguar.

considering all the serious problems brought on by 10.2.8...apple better be sweating to get an update out NOW...
(as i'm sure they are)

Not to mention 9.2, 9.2.1, and 9.2.2 which all came out after OS X.

Ya but that was a different OS core. OSX was totally new so the fact OS9 had updates still made sense. So its slightly different. I am not trying to be think just making a point.

Yes.. Which was why I said..
"OS 9/X aside.."
Either way, I'd still have thought OS 10.2.8b/9 will arrive before 10.3

Do you think Apple will delay Panther until 10.2.8 Update 2 is done?

No way. They'll release Panther as per their schedule that is already in place. There are gonna be lots of people who aren't gonna buy Panther, whether it be because they are happy with Jaguar and can't justify dropping another $130 on another upgrade, or they use Beige G3's (which are no longer supported under Panther), or for a number of other reasons, and those people are gonna want an upgrade to their existing OS to fix Apple's little slip-up. I haven't really experienced any troubles with Ethernet or anything else since upgrading, but then again, I only used it for about a week before I started using Panther. I thought it was having problems, but it turned out that my ISP had turned my ADSL way the hell down cause I went over my 10GB transfer limit for september. Don't they have to notify me or something? I thought something was wrong with our router setup.
But anyways, no. They won't hold Panther's release back until a new 10.2 update is released, because people aren't gonna buy Panther just cause they don't wanna wait for 10.2.9 or whatever it'll be. The two will be on their own, separate schedules - Panther whenever it's been duplicated, and 10.2.x ASAP.

This poll isn't needed any more (unless the new 10.2.8 doesn't work correctly either).

I wonder if it was needed in first place.
