i'm running OSX 10.2 on my ibook and i just tried to print and it is stating that i cant add my epson printer because the driver is not installed. and i know that OSX should already have supporet for my printer. it has always just worked when i used my other computers and OSX. how can i add the printer driver, if it is supposed to be built into OSX???

There should be an Epson driver installer package somewhere on disc 2 of your Jaguar install CDs.

Otherwise, check out epson on line- don't they have drivers to dowload somewhere? Typing epson drivers into google should do it.

Yes, they have drivers on their Support page. Also, you can usually find drivers for whatever you need on VersionTracker and/or MacUpdate.

what kind of epson are you using? I have a photo 820 and it is moody as hell and now just doesn't work at all. It just doesn't make sense to keep giving me communication errors when the ASP knows its there.

i'm using a epson 777i and it has always worked in my G3 and my G4 but on my ibook (300mhz clamshell, OSX 10.2) it wont work. it sees the printer, but just tells me there are no drivers installed. i went to the printer folder in the library and it was empty. i copied over the contents of the printer folder from my G4 and tried to copy it over to the ibook, but for some reason there is a problem with the disk and the cdrom drive wouldnt read it all. I went onto epson's website and it did not see any drivers available to download for my printer because the website said that it was "supported" by OSX.
I manged to copy most of the files over to the ibook printer folder, but it still gives me the same error. i guess i could do a "archive and install" but i will have to make sure that i have all my music on cd's before i'll do that. i'll probably try to get them from the OSX cd#2 also.

i just went to apple's website and there arent any drivers for my epson, again because it is supposed to be natively supported and the drivers are supposed to be built into OSX 10.2....i guess when the perosn i got this from did a clean install, something happened and the printer drivers were not loaded.

Just insert the 2nd CD of Jaguar and on there is a package with the Epson Printer Drivers. Just open it up and it will be like a normal installation and then you should be fine. You might want to repair your permissions also in case something happened when you were transferring those files from your G4.

I also have this printer and it runs much nicer in Panther (but basically everything does... for some reason in Jaguar it doesn't remember how to print more then one document per page, but it works swell in Panther... also much faster too)
