I've read plenty about 10.3 being 'faster' and 'snappier' overall, and how 'xyz' launches in one bounce etc...

Do 10.3's improvements extend to 3rd party apps, or are the performance increases only to be found in re-engineered apps (such as the Finder, Mail and Preview)? Can anyone provide feedback on performance of apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, MX Studio etc. which I find to be pretty sluggish overall under 10.2...?

They may run a bit faster because the libraries they use for drawing (cocoa, etc) if they're dynamically linked may be quite a bit faster.

Witness the fact that Xbench runs faster on Panther than on Jaguar -- it's a 3rd party app and it's testing/using things that can affect performance, and they're software, on an identical machine. So I'd say yes in theory.

Of course, with a recompile with GCC 3.3.3 it should be even faster.
