So my roommate's PB crashed playing Tony Hawk's ProSkater 4 last night, and after restarting it, it won't boot completely up. Every time it gets all the way through the progress bar on the screen after the gray Apple, goes to the blank blue screen, and stalls. He has it set on auto-login, but I don't think it actually gets all the way to login, because holding down L doesn't force the login screen to come up (has no affect at all). I've tried booting into single-user mode and verbose mode, and neither get me any useful information. Safe Boot didn't help either, nor did running Disk First aid and repairing permissions. The data is all backed up right now thanks to target disk mode, so we can just reinstall which will probably help, but I'd like to perform the least invasive fix possible. I already tried deleting all loginwindow.plist files, and then even renamed the /Library and ~/Library folders (the latter for his main login which is the one set for auto login), but none of that helped. I'm going to look at the logs tomorrow (too late now), but I'm not entirely sure what I'm looking for so that may not help much either.

Can anyone suggest any other course of action before I resort to reinstalling Jaguar for him?

Thanks.
