I recently installed a couple of free helper programs to my system to make using the system beneficial for my interface with it ......and well I've forgotten even what they were called. Consequently I thought there must be some way of viewing all of my recently downloaded appplications in the OS X Finder and at least being able to ascertain as to whether they are already or not yet properly installed.

I thought such information may have been found at the Knowledge Base. no such joy ?

Have you checked your default browser "Download Window/Manager" to see what they were?

knowledge base is an online help-system - it knows nothing about your particular computer or set up.

sometimes it's best to just try to remember whether you installed a certain program or not. You usually have to do some active installing to make it happen (i.e. just downloading the thing in your browser isn't enough).

You *can* open up the Apple System Profiler to see a list of all the currently installed applications, though I'm not sure it'll give you install dates or anything like that.

Use the Find feature in the Finder to search for all files containing ".app". Sort the resulting list by creation date, descending.
