So what do people think of the new iDisk infrastructure in Panther? You like the automatic synchronization?

It's awesome, but I wish I could use it for other WebDAV accounts.

I think it's bloody great! Works very nicely indeed. This is how it should have been all along.
Certainly goes one step further in justifying the cost of .Mac too.

Does it slow down the system running in the background all the time, I mean, even a little bit?

Also, is there an option to use it the old way?

This synchronization ability *really* should have been made universal, rather than built only for Apple's subscription service.

I mean, there are lots of people who would value being able to synchronize with their work AFP server, or a web-development WebDAV server, for example. And while tools exist to do this, now that Apple went to the trouble to make this seamless for iDisk, they should have universalized it.

Yes, you can un-check a box that will not make a local copy of your iDisk available...then you just use it as you have in the past...

I find it interesting, but I'm sure people will have issues with it...

What happens if you have two computers and synch them when they both have updated info on them?

I can hear the bitching already...

Well, if those people have "Automatic" sync on...it's their own damn fault...

People who are going to do that "normally" should only sync manually IMHO...
