I know just a bit about IPV6 and that it will be built into Panther.

For those who know, what advantage will using IPV6 provide? All I know is what little I have read. Things like when much of the internet switches to it, spam will become harder to mask and there will be more addresses, but what else?

The main point of IPV6 can be summed up thus:
IPV4 has a finite amount of possible addresses. Most of them have been used up, and we will soon reach a point where there simply aren't enough to go around. IPV6 has a MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH larger amount available (340282366920938463463374607431768211456 as opposed to 4228250625).

As anyone who's seen Serial Experiments Lain knows, if we ever get to IPV7 we are in deep trouble.

Ah. I see. So, for me it won't be that special.

Ok, good to know. Thanks, Gul.

It's also worth mentioning that Jaguar already has a working IPV6 implementation. No one uses it though right now.

Until EVERY router in the internet supports IPV6, they can't throw the proverbial switch.

Doesn't IPV6 allow for packet priorities? That would make streaming video and such better because they would be given a higher priority and sent before other non-time critical data. Am I right?
