Hey all, I'm new to the X11 gig. I'm wondering if someone can fill me in on things. I get the impression from Apple's page that X11 is now an active part of Panther, not something I'll need to download. So, I'm wondering if that means if I get binary that needs an X Windowing environment I can just double click on it and the OS will take it from there?

Thanks!

Josh

my guess is that you will still need to type ./<app name> in the terminal to launch it.

X11 1.0 is a seperate package, you can install it from the 3rd Panther CD.

The beta version I had of X11 wouldn't work when I upgraded to Panther, so I had to delete it and install the one from the CD, and worked great.

what exactly do you need to delete?
I want to know so I can avoid heart attacks later on :-P Doesn't it upgrade the X11? Automatically?
