I downloaded the qt-mac stuff from trolltechs website and have been trying to install it. it configures perfectly, with no problems, but upon make, I start getting errors, I normally can figure out why it failde, but I can't seem to figure this one out.

Can you post the last _10_ lines of output? This is still the make output and is not the real error. We'll need a bit more of the log.

I should have updated this thread, I reinstalled OSX, as I was unhappy with the partition scheme and fink setup I was running. I haven't quite gotten to the qt step yet, but if I get that same error message, I will do so.
