I've been wanting to install a few new unix applications/commands that I can access through Terminal (like zip) but I have no idea how to do it? I read something about Fink doing this, but am still not very clear. Anyone care to enlighten me or point me in the direction of a good explanation? Also, if there are some applications that you think are absolutely invaluable, I'd like to hear about those too.

Is /usr/bin/zip not on your system? You know, you get a lot of nice CLI tools when you install the developer tools. Maybe that's why my system has it.
