Anybody has an idea of when will new macs start shipping with Panther pre-loaded? What was the story with Jaguar?

Well it won't be until 10.3 is released thats for sure. Slightly after I guess, first lot straight after release will probably have 10.2 installed and come with 10.3 on upgrade cd.

actually, I read that it will never be installed on new macs. From here on out all macs will come with jaguar and people will have to pay to upgrade no matter what.

So, if I'm about to purchase a new PB should I wait another 2 weeks?
I'd really like to have Panther pre-loaded. Everytime I have upgraded it's like starting again even with the installers options. Isn't it better to start from "scratch" at 10.0?
OTOH I'm also thinking about the family-pack for upgrading my mac at the office, my brother's and my mom's.

Hello all! In terms of upgrading versus a clean install, what do you guys recommend? I'm thinking of buying my first mac (a powerbook 15in) and I want to make sure everything goes smoothly. Any tips, suggestions, or advice is greatly appreciated.
