Hello people - it'd be funny if it wasn't annoying.

I installed 7B85 over Jag and had sum GUI bugs. I tried to add my 1200 fonts to Font Book but for minutes it didn't really show any reaction so I force quit the app.

That might have been the mistake.

Anyway, I overinstalled Panther again to see if I could get rid of the bugs (Safari crashed while launching etc).

It worked fine - except one font problem. On some websites some fonts are substituted by strange fonts.

MAYBE I deleted a font somewhere which I better shouldn't have deleted OR my forcequit on Font Book was a bad thing.

Can anyone help me out? Reinstall fixed the Safari and other bugs (besides: new Finder and especially new Icon handling are not made for me. WHY IS THAT RASTER SO WIDE-SPACED NOW? CRAP! :/ ) but my fonts are trash.

or the panic.com website:

help would be appreciated...

Looks like you will have to wait until 24th of October for help. Until then:

The second image looks as though it is encoded for Thai which is why the text is different (it looks like Thai script to me). Have you burgered your default encoding?

Under the Appearances preferences in Safari, what is your Default Encoding setting? Typically it would be Western (ISO Latin 1).

I had a similar problem - it seemed that Arial had vanished, and the system was substituting another font. I cured it by deleting all traces of that other font from my machine - and then arial seemed to re-appear ? !

Safari Preferences -> Appearance -> Standard Font

I think 7B85 has some problems with switching preferences around.

i had the same problem once (long time ago) with all cocoa apps...the cause ended up being my having installed a different version of helvetica, or helvetica neue from the adobe type library, thus over-riding the apple version of helvetica (neue). you might want to try disabling any helvetica fonts that you installed...

Install a legal build of Panther. You can get one on October 24 for $129 at any Apple Store, though depending on your employer you may be able to get a discount.

Sucks to have installed an OS that screwed up your system. How long did you wait before force quitting?
