Is it possible to use other pictures as icons in my dock instead of the ones in there?

The icon of an item in the Dock is whatever the icon of the original file is. So I don't believe you can use a different icon only in the Dock.

Ok, well can I change the icon of individual programs? I thought I saw a thread awhile back of custom docks and they had differnt icons. That's where I got the idea.

Yeah, check out this link on Xicons.com.
Oh, and when you change the icons, you'll have to drag the Dock icon out, and put it back in for the new icon to show in the Dock.

Ok that seems simple enough. Can I just find a picture on the net I like and just copy and paste? Does it need to be a certain size?

There's a ton of icons available for download at www.xicons.com. Sure, you can copy and paste from a website, but icons are usually in increments, like 32 x 32, 48 x 48, etc. It might not look good.

Just copy and paste any graphic in.
It should scale perfectly, bear in mind there will be no transparency.
Xicons is your best bet bet for well designed icons.
