hey been playing around in 10.3, enabled root user, but the only way I can log in as root user is to change login style to name and password field and log in. Is there some trick to turnig the "other" user on for the list login style?

Ok, i just fired up netinfo manager, and it is showing root as not enabled but i can log in as root so i know it is, and every time I go to "enable Root user" I enter my password, it takes it, and nothing happens, the "enable Root user" is still a option, not disable root user. any ideas?

Use this hint: at the login window, press:
1. down-arrow
2. option-return

Thanx for the tip, but I'm scared something is seriously wrong with my net info manager, you guys think a install over my current setup would fix it?

but i can log in as root so i know it is
Are you sure you're logging in as root? In other words...

Username: root
password: xxxxxx

Because I don't see how you could be logging in as root if NetInfo Manager says root is disabled, unless you were manually fiddling with NetInfo entries.
